Why You'll Love Mindframe STEAM Preschool

STEAM Curriculum

Give your child early access to the hands-on exploration and experiential learning normally reserved for grade-school students. STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math, but students engage with all core curriculum subjects including reading, writing, history, health, and social and personal development. Whatever their age or stage, your student gets personalized learning to grow with.

Play exercises creativity and imagination, skills that help children develop into life-long learners. Frequent opportunities for indoor and outdoor play help students extend learning and apply concepts. A bright future starts with playtime.

Social and Emotional Learning

Cooperation, communication, sharing, and compromise create happy children, and effective adults. Our curriculum provides ample opportunities to practice these life-skills through games, whole group and partner activities, and cooperative projects. Along the way each child is encouraged to manage feelings, express needs or wants in a positive way, persevere through challenges, and use language to work through disagreements and find solutions.

Student-Centered Approach

Your child is unique. Our curriculum is designed with their interests in mind. Through personalized learning opportunities and small class sizes we engage students in their own education to build a strong foundation for a lifetime of learning.

The world is not neatly divided into subject areas and your child’s learning won’t be either. Cross-curricular lesson planning reveals the key concepts and themes that help students find connections in their daily learning.

Flexible Attendance & Payment Options

We offer flexible attendance and payment options to meet your child’s needs and the needs of your family. Choose full-day, half-day, or mix and match. Pick the days of the week that work for your child. Weekly and monthly payments available.

Mindframe STEM Preschool is a licensed day care program by Virginia Social Services.

Explore our STEAM Curriculum

At Mindframe STEAM Preschool, your child guides their own learning of core curriculum subjects and STEAM topics. Learning is fun and enriching with early-access to hands-on exploration and experiential learning, normally reserved for grade-school students. Foundational subject blocks include:

Students will receive daily opportunities to practice listening and speaking. They will express themselves through writing activities using a variety of materials and technology. Students will practice phonics and literacy concepts to build a solid foundation and better prepare them for reading. Using pre-reading skills, students will focus on concept of word, the ability to recognize individual words and match spoken words to written words. In addition, teachers will read aloud to students.

Through early mathematics introduction, students will prepare for future challenges and opportunities to problem solve. Students will develop number sense, understand parts of a whole, practice measuring and comparing, and work with and manipulate geometric shapes. Applying mathematical concepts to the world around them, students will look for patterns and gather and organize information about subjects that interest them.

Putting to practice their natural curiosity, students will explore and discover the world around them as they learn to apply basic science principles. Students will learn to observe, describe, and compare as they conduct simple scientific investigations. Sample concepts include changes over time, the living world, and natural resources.

History and Social Studies

Through peer interaction, students will learn to compare and contrast their lives and experiences with those of others. Students will make connections to past and present, learn about different countries, traditions and holidays. An exploration of continents and cultures invites each student to see themselves as part of a collective, one person in a sea of differences and similarities.

Health and Physical Development

Learning about health and wellness at an early age sets a strong foundation for future healthy choices. Students will learn about different foods, safe and unsafe choices, feelings and emotions, germs, the body, and hygiene. Students will participate in both fine and gross motor activities that challenge and develop their muscles through activities like yoga, stretching, creative movement, and play.

Personal and Social Development

Self-regulation, persistence, communication with others, and problem solving are essential skills for life. Students will learn what it means to be a member of a classroom community as they practice cooperation and work with others to solve problems.

Arts and Music

Music and arts will integrate with all subject areas in the curriculum. Students will develop analytical skills by comparing music notes in songs, exploring the feelings behind a song, or playing along to a rhythm. They will make art in different mediums, use a variety of tools, and practice expressing themselves. Projects will emphasize philosophy of process, not product. Students will practice presenting their projects and explaining their creative process, giving insight into who they are as artists.
